MEDICARE PRESCRIPTION DRUG PLANS AND PART D COVERAGE

Griset Medicare Solutions will Help you Find the Best Prescription Drug Plan that Fits all your Needs.

Prescription drug costs can add up fast, especially for those who suffer from a chronic illness that requires medication. Unfortunately, the number of prescription medications seniors rely on is increasing, according to the Washington Post,  seniors aged 65-69 take at least five prescription drugs to treat chronic illnesses or conditions.  The good news is having reliable drug coverage through a prescription drug plan can help alleviate some of the costs associated with prescription drugs, and Griset Medicare Solutions will help you every step of the way.

To improve your understanding of prescription drug coverage let’s take a look at what exactly Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage is.

What is Medicare Part D?

Prescription Drug Coverage

Medicare Part D drug coverage helps Medicare beneficiaries pay for some or all of the costs of certain prescription drugs. Essentially, it is insurance for your prescription drug needs.  Medicare Part D plans are available to anyone who is enrolled in Medicare.  Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) does not include prescription drug coverage.

Did you know, according to a KFF Study, 1 in 4 older adults say it is difficult to afford their prescription drugs?

Those who have enrolled in Medicare Part A and/or Part B can add a stand-alone prescription drug plan to their coverage. Most Medicare Advantage plans provide prescription drug coverage as well as all the benefits provided by Original Medicare.

It is important to remember that both stand-alone Part D plans, as well as Medicare Advantage plans, vary in cost and coverage. Each plan has a specific list (formularies) which outline the prescription drugs they cover.
